Master Plan and Renovation of a Southfield Church

St John Church - Campus master plan including traffic study, parking, accessibility, and outdoor space reconfiguration. Interior renovation to 24,000 sf of classroom, office, and banquet. Architectural Designer for McIntosh Poris I used Revit to create schematic design documents and coordinated with the interiors team. The renovation will make the church a better place for worshippers, Sunday school students, the choir, volunteers, weddings, church meetings, funeral ceremonies, and security. In order to better understand Armenian heritage, cultural and religious symbolism we researched Armenian designs and had discussions with church committees and clergy. From this, we  incorporated various Armenian symbols and the work of Armenian artists into the renovation. The choir room was relocated from the basement to the first floor so that the elder choir members did not have to travel a long distance to participate in choir practice. The handicap parking layout was revisited for easier pedestrian circulation. A new ADA single-stall family restroom was added for use by parishioners, visitors, and people with disabilities or special needs.
